Evening all 👋🏻

Thought I’d introduce myself and self-proclaim my title as the first auditor on this platform!

I’m an ACA semi-senior currently studying for my final exams (in what has felt like a lifetime).

For those who have “walked the walk” already, it would be great to hear your experiences, what got you through that final push?

Likewise, those of you yet to reach the final stages, how are you getting on?

From a person who’s experienced the highs and lows of the accounting qualifications, from level 2 AAT right through to ACA, it would be great to hear your stories.

ACA Exam results this Thursday, how is everyone feeling for them?

Confident? Nervous? Bit of both?

If you sat a specific exam, check out that ACA group, you can make a topic there by becoming a member of the group and discussing purely that exam!

To accountants everywhere, what’s the one thing you wish someone had told you before starting your qualification?

• How intense it actually is?
• That technical skill isn’t everything?
• The industry vs practice decisions?
• That burnout is real?

If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self starting out — what would it be?

What do you think is the biggest issue facing the profession over the next 5–10 years?

Is it:
📉 AI & automation?
📚 Qualification burnout?
💷 Salary transparency?
🏢 Firms struggling to retain staff?
📊 Clients expecting more for less?

Or something else entirely?

What got you initially invested into accounting? 🤔
It's an interesting discussion, there are so many different paths that can take you here, and I'll bet there are a wealth of different routes people took to get here!

For me, I discovered a passion for analysing financial statements whilst studying an unrelated degree in Physics! This led me to switch to a degree in Economics, where I had a few modules in Accounting, and the module in preparing financial statements really solidified that this was the career path for me

It would be interesting to hear the variety others have taken in their paths to get to where we are now!

Here you can make your very own group to share resources like PDF's and Links to sites you have found that you may think the rest of the group will find useful, but also chat amongst the group specifically and post directly to that group also!
